2008 SOCIAL SEASON

The Social Season kicked off with our Annual General Meeting, held in the old Court House on the 1st of March. You can get an overview of the evening and some pictures of the event by clicking on the link.

The Social Schedule for the beginning of the year is as follows;

12th April 2008, This was held in the Old Court House on the 2nd floor, and featured a presentation by John and Robin Sams of their cruise last year up to Lake Ontario. Click on the link for some pictures of the evening.

26th April 2008 Mackeys Marina had their first annual Crab Bash on the 26th of April and a large contingent of members in their yachts made the trip over on a glorious day for sailing. The music was live and the food was excellent as usual, also the beer was on tap.

Upcoming events;-

3rd May 2008, our second Spring Series race day will be finished with a party at the home of Steve and Linda Lane at 308 East King St.
The club will be carving cold cuts for this event, to go with the Hors D'oeuvres and sides from the members. Beer, Wine and soft drinks will be provided as usual.

17th May 2008, our third Spring Series race day will be concluded with a party at the home of Bill and Phyllis Pepper with a Tropical Theme.
Again, the members are requested to provide the starters, sides and desserts. The club will provide the beverages.

31st May 2008, The Pasquotank River Yacht Club regatta will be held in Elizabeth City. Any members willing to make the trip by water or land, will be most welcome.

14th June 2008, As our Spring Series will be over by this date, we are going to have a novelty pursuit race.
This is where everyone is assigned a different starting time, based on their predicted elapsed time around the course, and the first boat home wins. These are usually a lot of fun and give rise to endless discussion about the family heritage of the handicapper. For that reason the identity of the handicapper will be kept a secret.
Bill and Phyllis Pepper have generously offered to host this party, so it will be held once again at the Peppers.

28th June 2008, The Osprey Yacht Club at Albemarle Plantation will have their regatta and any club members who would like to attend by land or water would be most welcome.
